amfori discontinues combined social audits to strengthen audit integrity
Starting 1 December 2025, amfori will discontinue combined audits with other schemes. This strategic move reinforces our commitment to audit integrity, consistency, and credibility across all amfori BSCI audits.
Why this change?
In 2020, amfori introduced combined audits to ease audit fatigue during the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal was to simplify processes and reduce pressure on suppliers. However, recent data and stakeholder feedback reveal that combined audits often create confusion, especially for auditors. They also compromise audit quality and efficiency.
To address these concerns and strengthen our audit framework, amfori has decided to return to single-scheme audits. This change ensures clearer accountability and better transparency for all stakeholders.
What does it mean in practice?
Here’s how this update will affect our members’ operations:
- Audit planning: amfori members are encouraged to review and adjust their audit schedules to meet the new requirements.
- Quality assurance: This change will strengthen the independence and quality of amfori audits.
- Best practice alignment: This approach aligns with international best practices and stakeholder expectations.
- Transparency & trust: A single-scheme model enhances clarity across the supply chain, reinforcing trust and accountability.
Our ongoing commitment
amfori remains focused on promoting responsible business practices through high-quality and independent audits. By removing combined audits, we aim to deliver more transparent and effective supply chain oversight.
