amfori’s Progress on the SSCI Benchmarking Process: A Year in Review
One year ago, amfori took a significant step toward enhancing the credibility and transparency of amfori BSCI by applying for recognition under the Consumer Goods Forum’s (CGF) Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative (SSCI). Today, we reflect on our journey and share the progress we have made towards SSCI Recognition, reaffirming our commitment to sustainable and responsible global trade.
Our journey over the past year
Since submitting our benchmarking application in January 2024, amfori has undergone a rigorous evaluation process designed to ensure that amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) meets key industry standards.
Over the past twelve months, we have:
- Completed the SSCI self-assessment, demonstrating our alignment with sustainability and compliance best practices.
- Undergone an independent expert review, where a panel of sustainability experts assessed the robustness and effectiveness of amfori BSCI.
- Participated in an office visit, allowing SSCI evaluators to engage directly with our teams, review our processes, and verify our implementation measures.
- Engaged in public consultation, inviting industry stakeholders to review and provide input on our practices to enhance transparency and trust further.
We are now implementing corrective actions where necessary to ensure that we continue to refine the amfori BSCI to meet and exceed industry expectations. The timeline is to complete this implementation by the end of the year 2025.
As a leading business association for sustainable trade, we must lead by example to continue supporting companies across the globe to operate successful and responsible businesses the most efficient way. Collaborations with organisations such as the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) are crucial in this endeavour. Why does it matter?
By progressing through the SSCI Benchmarking Process, amfori is reinforcing its flagship product, amfori BSCI. This benchmark provides an independent verification that our amfori BSCI system adheres to internationally recognised sustainability and Social due diligence principles, helping our members confidently engage in responsible sourcing and ethical supply chain management.
