No, it is included in your membership

Please refer to the Terms of Implementation for Participants.

amfori QMI and amfori BSCI are two different audits. amfori QMI looks at quality management, while amfori BSCI focuses on social compliance.

They use different questionnaires, check different documents, and speak to different people in the factory.

It’s possible to schedule both audits on the same or overlapping days, but only if the amfori Member, the supplier, and both auditing companies agree in advance. Also, different auditors must be assigned for each audit.

amfori QMI is not meant to replace your existing system. It’s designed to give a quick and practical overview of a suppliers’ quality management — useful for screening new producers or reassessing existing ones.

It can complement your current audits by adding extra insights and helping reduce audit duplication.

Using amfori QMI is entirely your choice. If you choose to use it, it can help streamline assessments and lower overall supply chain costs.

Operational questions

There are no technical pre-requisites. However, the factory must:

  • Have all required local government permits
  • Have at least 6 full consecutive months of operational records with actual production

This ensures the auditor can properly assess the factory.

Yes. The audit includes questions related to product safety under areas such as:

  • Infrastructure and systems (e.g. product safety management)
  • Product design (e.g. design procedures, lab testing, safety warnings, change control)

Sample questions can be shared with Members who have signed the Terms of Implementation (TOI).

If GMP is a legal or contractual requirement for the product, the auditor will check if it’s being followed and may select audit samples based on that.

However, the amfori QMI audit does not cover all GMP requirements in full.

ISO 9001 is a globally recognised quality management standard used for certification. It applies to all kinds of organisations, regardless of size or sector.

amfori QMI is not a certification. It’s a fast, buyer-driven assessment tool designed to check the key elements of a producer’s quality management and performance.

amfori QMI was developed with input from buyers and global standards (including ISO 9001), but it focuses on practical needs for assessing suppliers — especially in the non-food sector.

Yes. amfori QMI is not a duplicate of ISO 9001. It offers a quick way for buyers to assess a producer’s current quality performance.

It can also help producers identify risk areas and support continuous improvement, even if they are already certified.

No. If a question is outside the factory’s scope, it will be marked as Not Applicable and won’t be included in the final score.
