amfori and IOM renew strategic partnership
We are proud to announce that amfori and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) have renewed their strategic partnership. This partnership reinforces our shared commitment to ethical recruitment and the protection of migrant workers worldwide. Moreover, the milestone marks a major step in advancing responsible business practices and promoting fair labour standards across global supply chains.
Building on a strong foundation
The renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) builds on years of collaboration. In addition, it aligns the IOM’s International Recruitment Integrity System with amfori BSCI’s risk management approach. It is particularly important, as it is vital in high-risk regions such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Bangladesh, where transparent and ethical recruitment is urgently needed.
Driving knowledge and capacity-building
Through joint training and educational programmes, amfori and the IOM will tackle issues such as trafficking, modern slavery, and migrant worker orientation. As a result, these initiatives equip businesses and partners with practical tools to uphold workers’ rights and well-being.
Expanding advocacy and influence
The partnership offers amfori members access to a global network of stakeholders and advocacy platforms. Consequently, this strengthens operational delivery and enhances the value of amfori BSCI. Together with IOM, amfori aims to amplify members’ voices at international forums to influence policy and promote ethical labour pathways.
Integrating climate action
Recognising the link between migration and climate change, the partnership explores climate resilience initiatives. For example, these include integrating private sector expertise into resettlement programmes and supporting long-term adaptation strategies in regions most affected by environmental challenges.
A shared vision for collective impact
amfori and IOM remain committed to continuous collaboration. They will regularly review and refine their approach to address emerging challenges in migration, labour rights, and climate resilience.
